Dragon Drive:
  • How does the Dragon Drive work ?

The Dragon Drive turns any 2.5" Hard Drive into a convenient portable storage drive that can be used on any system with a USB or Firewire port. The aluminum casing protects the drive from overheating and vibration. The Dragon Drive supports USB1.1 and USB2.0 and Firewire to offer fast transfer speeds of up to 480MBPS.
When you connect the external hard drive to a computer you might need to load some software drivers if you are using Windows98 or Windows98SE.

  • Do I need to connect both USB cables (connectors) ?

Standard USB ports supplies 500mA of power. Some wired ports on the front end of Desktop or Laptop ports do not maintain that level at all times. The USB cable has a USB mini connector that attaches to the enclosure and the other end of the cable has two USB Male A connectors or you will have a separate USB cable with a 5V DC adaptor end on it. Both connectors must be inserted into two separate ports to adequately supply power to the enclosure and storage drive.

  • Why is my new drive not showing up in MyComputer ?

To Initialize and Format the Hard Drive, Right Click "My Computer". Then choose "Manage". From there, under the "Storage" section you should see "Disk Management". Left click "Disk Management".

Locate the word "Unknown" under the Disk that has a similar capacity to the one you just purchased. Right click the word "Unknown" and select the "Initialize Disk" option. This will launch the "Initialize Disk Wizard". The default settings should work for most situations.

Now that the disk has initialized, locate and right click the word "Unallocated" next to the disk you just initialized. Select "New Partition" to launch the wizard. We will utilize all the defaults that the operating system recommends for us. Click all the "Next" buttons until you get the "Finish" button to click. After 15 to 20 seconds where the word "Unallocated" was located you will see the format process with a percentage complete. Let the process finish to 100% and close the window. Open the "My Computer" window. Now you should see a new drive available for you to write and read from.
