US Modular Introduces the 12GB Monstor Drive - Gearlog.com
With the announcement of the new 12GB Monstor Drive, US Modular is looking to make the holidays just a little bit merrier.
The stainless-steel micro drive is designed after a common Zippo lighter, and US Modular is trying to play to the theme of a "James Bond-like toy". The drive connects directly to your PC through your USB 2.0 port and will save anything from music to movies. US Modular claims the Monstor Drive consumes less power than comparably-sized drives on the market, and has a 1500G shock resistance rating so you don't have to worry about losing valuable information you drop it. The drive spins around at a respectable 4,200 RPM and will transfer media at a rate of 52.4-99.6 Mbits/sec.
The slick-looking 12GB Monstor Drive, will retail for $129, and can be found at a variety of retailers nationwide on November 13th.

USModular Monstor Drive Line - mobilemag.com
There are few things cooler to play with than a Zippo lighter. US Modular knows that, so they have made their latest newest USB drive look just like a shiny fire starter. Interestingly, the drive goes for a micro-HDD instead of flash, letting it have a nifty 12 GB capacity and keeping the price at a fairly reasonable $129. The only thing you can?t do with it is light your cigarette, but you shouldn?t be smoking, anyway.

New 12GB 'mini' Monstor Drive - macnn.com
US Modular is preparing a high-capacity version of its mid-range Monstor Drive, the company announced on Tuesday. The updated version stores as much as 12GB of data (up from 8GB) on a 1.8-inch hard drive, providing enough room for music and other valuable data that won't fit on standard flash drives, according to Electronista. The transfer rates on the 4200RPM, USB 2.0 drive remain comparatively quick, varying between 3.3MB and 6.5MB per second depending on drive activity. The unit comes in a stainless steel enclosure rated at 1500G shock resistance. US Modular will release the larger Monstor Drive on November 1st for $130.

Looks like a Zippo lighter, stores 12 gigabytes - mobilemag magazine
US Modular is at it again with their uniquely-named Monstor Drive Line (no that's not a typo). The micro-sized USB drives may look like little more than fashionable cigarette lighters, but the latest entry packs in an incredible 12GB of storage. The stainless steel shell is quite attractive, and it certainly helps that this device is 'small enough to fit in the palm of a hand.' As expected, the new Monstor Drive throws down USB 2.0, low power consumption, and 1500G shock resistance, but unlike other similar devices, the Monstor doesn't use flash memory, opting for a 4200rpm micro-HDD instead. Look for the 12GB drive to start shipping November 1st with an asking price of $129.
